Overcoming Obstacles with a Social Media Team
Client: A blended team from two leading social media agencies, working in fast-paced content production for major global brands.
Format: 2 Hour LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® workshop · Team of 7
Focus: Overcoming Obstacles, building resilience, surfacing shared strategies, and leaving with concrete commitments for the challenges ahead.
The Challenge
Every team carries tension that talking doesn't always reach. For a creative team working at the intersection of two agencies, producing content at pace for some of the world's biggest entertainment brands, the goal was to get underneath the surface. To address the mindset towards the obstacles that were genuinely getting in the way, understand how the team had navigated hard moments before, and turning those insights into real, owned commitments for the future.
The Approach
Using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® materials and methodology, we facilitated the session and moved the team through three connected builds:
Present: Current Challenges Each person built a physical model representing a challenge they were experiencing at work — how it felt, how it showed up, and how it affected the team. Building made the subtext visible in a way that conversation rarely does.
Future: Success Imagined The team then jumped forward — imagining a future where the challenge had been successfully overcome. What did that look like? What made it possible? Building the answer, rather than just discussing it, shifted the energy in the room.
Past: Proof It's Possible The final build drew on real evidence — the challenges the team had already overcome. What behaviours and attitudes made it happen? The models revealed a collective resilience the team hadn't fully articulated before.
The session closed with each person adjusting their model to show one concrete action they could take the next time a challenge appeared — and finishing the sentence: "When the next challenge appears, I will…"
The Outcome
A team that arrived carrying hidden thoughts and feelings towards everyday obstacles they hadn't fully named left with shared language, genuine insight into their own resilience, and personal commitments they'd arrived at themselves — through their hands, not a slide deck.
"It was amazing! The way of building things differently and thinking outside the box really stuck with us."
The feedback said it best: not just a useful session, but one that lasted beyond the time spent together.
Why It Works
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® isn't just about the bricks. It's about what happens when you build your thinking instead of just talking about it. Physical models surface what conversation keeps just below the surface — and what gets built gets remembered.
This is the kind of work nouvôt brings to teams navigating change, friction, or a moment where the usual approach isn't cutting through.
