Work in Progress with Kaitlyn Davies

Three quick questions on creating better futures. Chatting work, change, hope and sharing what’s currently a work in progress this week is Kaitlyn Davies; Creative Producer, Researcher and Founder of Well Read, a critically curious Art & Design bookshop (and host of must-attend events) based in Central Lisbon. If you haven’t made it to Well Read yet, why not?

What are you working on right now?

I’m back working on a lot of music projects right now, across editorial development (with Vago, Lisbon’s best cocktail bar!), curatorial & programming oversight (come to Parallel Society Festival, 6 & 7 March in Marvila!), event production (the IRL Tour is coming to 25 cities, hopefully one near you!), and still managing to hold it down at Well Read, filling our 2026 events calendar and getting our online store off the ground.

It’s fun to connect the dots and watch things come together.

If you could change one thing about the world of work right now, what would it be, and why?

Working on the computer should be in service of working off the computer!

I want to be on less Zoom calls and spending more time out in the world, getting to talk to people face-to-face. The literal flattening of screens seems to flatten people’s humanity, and it’s so much more human to meet in person when possible.

What’s giving you hope right now?

Robida Collective, and Joshua Chuquimia Crampton’s 2023 album.

The best ideas rarely arrive fully formed.

The good stuff happens somewhere in the messy middle, where ideas are still taking shape and optimism is a choice we make daily. If you’re navigating change and want a thinking partner along the way, explore how we work.
